IAFI Membership

Membership in the IAFI is open to NAFI Members who are professional fire investigators and analysts, forensic fire scientists and specialists, and fire litigation attorneys who have participated in the investigation of fires or fire investigation training and education, which occurred outside of their home countries.

Those members of the IAFI, with superior expertise, education, experience, service to the fire investigation profession, and a position of respect within the fire investigation community may be recognized by the NAFI/IAFI Board of Governor's with the honorific title of Fellow of the IAFI (F-IAFI) in recognition of their leadership roles and honored standing within the industry.

Fellow Requirements
An applicant can apply for the F-IAFI designation by choosing one of the following options.
All applicants must be full members of the IAFI and not affiliate members.

Hold the CFEI designation with a minimum of 5 years of full time investigation experience as a CFEI

Hold the CFEI designation with a minimum of 15 years of full time investigation experience as a CFEI

Complete the Fellow application and Professional Review Report

Complete the Fellow application and Professional Review Report

Bachelor or Post Graduate Degree from an accredited college or university in a Fire Investigation related field. 

Accepted degrees: Fire and Safety Engineering Technology, Fire Science, Fire Protection Engineering, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science, Applied Science, and Criminal Justice.

Submit Fire investigation related paper. Research must be no more than 3 years old..
